Audio programs are
an excellent
way to make progress
in learning a language!
As the following excerpt from Wikipedia highlights, you can make wise use of time
that might otherwise be wasted:
(Excerpted From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection)
“Technology makes learning a language fairly easy. Audio players are a great
aid for those spending time in transit or trying to learn a language while doing
something like cleaning.
Even working 8 hours a day and getting 8 hours of sleep and allowing for one to
two hours driving to and from work, that leaves you with about 70 hours a week.
During those minutes you waste, put in the cassette tape or go over some vocabulary
briefly. It will make a world of a difference. Buy some books, a learning guide,
and some cassette tapes or CD's.”
A good quality audio program also makes use of other accelerated methods such as
the use of a core vocabulary and graduated interval repetition as
The Pimsleur method
does.
To retain the vocabulary and grammar you learn with these programs, it’s important
to review them periodically, and not cover material too quickly, or the information
won’t be retained permanently. See Using spaced repetition...
