Review:
"Review from previous edition Visually different, in that there are now three columns
per page rather than two, and headwords appear in a new, bolder, and somewhat larger
font. The practical result is that one now finds words faster and with greater ease."
"Forum for Modern Language Studies `An enormous amount of lexicographic resourcefulness
invested in the dictionary's macro- and microstructure, a very high degree of technological
sophistication."
The International Journal of Lexicography
Book Description This, the fourth edition of the Oxford Russian Dictionary, is an
invaluable text for any serious student of Russian, or any Russian native speaker
learning English. This edition also contains many enhancements, including new supplementary
material with a correspondence section, grammar help, and extra sections on the
pronunciation of Russian and English. The text has also been updated with hundreds
of new words - in both the English and Russian sides of the dictionary - especially
important given changes in language and culture over the last few years. These new
words mean that the Oxford Russian Dictionary continues to be the leader in its
field as the most comprehensive Russian dictionary available. The dictionary is
also more accessible for Russian speakers, with the addition of contextualizations
on the Russian-English side to help users select the most appropriate translation.
There is an extensive guide to English grammar, written in Russian, and the Russian
native speaker who wishes to use or understand American English is well catered
for.

Some reviews and recommendations
to consider: |
I have an older edition of this dictionary, and I recommend it as a comprehensive
desk reference dictionary!
Below are some reviews of this Desk Reference dictionary by Amazon customers that I found
useful. It's a little pricy, the Oxford Russian dictionary-hardcover
is by far one of the better serious reference dictionaries of Russian. If you're
learning the language, I'd recommend taking a serious look at this one.

"The Bible of Russian dictionaries...", April 26, 2000
Easily the best Russian dictionary I've ever used, and I've been using them for
50 years. There are so many examples of how the word is used that it's fun just
as a casual read. You'll learn a lot more than just a simple definition.

My experience with this dictionary and using many of the other
Russian-English dictionaries has proven to me that this is a most useful
comprehensive work that could well be the best one you could acquire!
